Subscriptions, Billing & Refunds

This policy explains how paid memberships work on Chapterwing — how you are billed, how renewals and cancellation work, when refunds are available, and how creators are paid. It supplements our Terms of Use and Privacy Policy.

1. Memberships & tiers

Some chapters and titles on Chapterwing are offered as part of a creator's paid membership. Each creator may offer one or more membership tiers at a monthly price they set. Subscribing to a tier unlocks the chapters that creator has made available to that tier (and any lower-priced tiers), including any early-access chapters during their early-access window. Free chapters remain free to everyone.

2. Billing & payment processing

Payments are processed by Stripe. By subscribing, you authorize Chapterwing and Stripe to charge your selected payment method the tier price plus any applicable taxes. Chapterwing does not store your full card details; they are handled by Stripe under its own terms and security standards. Prices are shown in U.S. dollars unless stated otherwise.

3. Renewals

Memberships are recurring and renew automatically each month on your billing date until cancelled. Each renewal charges the then-current price of your tier. If a creator changes a tier's price, the new price applies to billing periods that begin after the change; we will make reasonable efforts to notify you in advance of a price increase.

4. Cancellation

You may cancel a membership at any time from your account. Cancellation stops future renewals; your access continues until the end of the billing period you have already paid for, after which the tier's gated chapters lock again. Cancelling does not retroactively refund the current period unless required by law or covered by Section 5.

5. Refunds

Because memberships deliver digital content immediately, payments are generally non-refundable except where required by applicable law. We may, at our discretion, issue a refund or credit in situations such as:

  • a duplicate or clearly erroneous charge;
  • a documented technical fault that prevented access to the content you paid for and that we were unable to resolve;
  • unauthorized use of your payment method that you report promptly.

To request a refund, contact us within 14 days of the charge at support@chapterwing.com with your account email and the approximate charge date. Refunds, when granted, are returned to the original payment method.

6. Chargebacks

If you believe a charge is incorrect, please contact us first — we can usually resolve it faster than a bank dispute. Initiating a chargeback without contacting us may result in suspension of your access while the dispute is investigated.

7. How creators are paid

Creators receive the share of membership revenue from their tiers, less Chapterwing's platform fee and payment-processing fees, paid out through Stripe Connect. Creators are responsible for their own taxes on amounts they receive. The platform fee in effect is disclosed to creators in the studio.

8. Content availability

A creator may add, remove, reprice, or stop offering tiers, and may change which chapters are gated. If a title is removed (for example, under our DMCA Policy), access to its gated chapters may end. We are not liable for a creator's decision to change or discontinue their offerings, though we will handle any resulting billing fairly.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the effective date above and, where appropriate, by notifying members. Your continued use of a paid membership after a change takes effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
